UN stresses need for access to thousands affected by Central African Republic violence

United Nations officials continued to voice their concern today over the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) – where more than 30 people have been killed, over 100 have been wounded and thousands are seeking shelter amid the recent upsurge in violence – and stressed the need for free movement for aid workers to reach those in need.

President of Guyana urges UN to protect small States from foreign aggression

Reaffirming his country’s commitment to international law and the primacy of the decisions of the United Nations, the President of Guyana today called on the world body to stand by its commitment to protect small States from foreign aggression, in this case, attempts by Venezuela to “unravel borders which have been undisturbed for decades.”
