“Womenomics” linking gender equality and economic growth
The world would be a different place if its nations believed and practiced what’s been called “womenomics”, a theory linking the advancement of women to increased development rates.
The concept, originally defined by the Japanese Prime Minister Abe, was being highlighted by the Executive Director of UN Women, the UN agency for gender equality, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.
She was at the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo where she announced the forthcoming opening of a new UN Women office.
