“New, universal, meaningful” climate deal expected in 2015

Countries are expected to adopt a “new, universal and meaningful” climate agreement next year, according to a senior UN official.
Selwin Hart, the Director of the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Support Team made the observation ahead of the Paris Climate Summit scheduled in 2015.
World leaders are expected to make new commitments and pledges to keep global temperatures below 2 degrees centigrade.
Mr Hart told Jocelyne Sambira that the recent climate talks held in Lima, Peru have “paved the way” for a global pact.
