Countries are expected to adopt a “new, universal and meaningful” climate agreement next year, according to a senior UN official.

Selwin Hart, the Director of the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Support Team made the observation ahead of the Paris Climate Summit scheduled in 2015.

World leaders are expected to make new commitments and pledges to keep global temperatures below 2 degrees centigrade.
