More “security guarantees” are needed from all sides in the Syrian conflict, before UN aid convoys can deliver vital aid to stranded civilians, despite a major decrease in fighting since Saturday, due to the so-called “cessation in hostilities” agreement.

That’s according to a spokesperson for the World Health Organization (WHO), speaking from the Syrian capital Damascus, on Monday.

Tarik Jasarevic said that the UN and partner aid agencies were fully prepared to start delivering aid to tens-of-thousands of Syrians in besieged and hard-to-reach areas, but further guarantees were needed.

Matthew Wells asked him if the fragile truce appeared to be holding.
