The “cohesive society” of Burkina Faso needs protection from extremism on its border, if the country is to avoid radicalization.

That’s the message from Pascal Karorero, UN Development Programme Resident Representative to the West African country.

Presidential elections were held on Sunday, the first following the ousting of Blaise Compaore last year, and a failed military coup earlier in 2015.

World on “Fast Track” to end AIDS by 2030

Although the number of people receiving treatment for HIV has doubled over the past five years, the UN is pushing to make sure even more people can access these life-saving services.

Innovative approaches showing how countries are meeting this goal are documented in a report by UNAIDS, the UN agency working to end the disease.

The report was launched ahead of World AIDS Day, commemorated on 1 December.
