The issue of equality is expected to be at the centre of discussions getting underway in Mexico between representatives of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

They’re meeting under the auspices of 36th session of ECLAC, the UN’s Economic Commission for the region.

ECLAC comprises 45 Member States and 13 associate members.

The meeting is looking at inequality and how it relates to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, also known as Agenda 2030.

Pierre-Marc René has been speaking to Alicia Bárcena, the head of ECLAC.
