Russian Federation signs agreement earmarking troops for future UN operations

The Russian Federation has signed an agreement with the United Nations earmarking some of its troops for future peacekeeping operations.

Yesterday, the Russian Federation became the 38th country to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on Participation in the Standby Arrangements System with the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).

Under the arrangement, the Russian Government has agreed to provide a company of field engineers and four transport helicopters, which will remain on standby until needed.
