Persecution of Baha’i faith in Iran is a deep-seated issue

22 January 2017

The persecution of Baha’is in Iran is a “very deep-seated” issue according to Ahmed Shaheed, the UN’s special rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief.

Dr Shaheed expressed concern that the faith has so far not been recognized as a religion by Iran, adding that government policy undermined the rights of the Baha’i community.
