Ban strongly deplores latest rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned today’s multiple rocket attacks from Gaza against Israel, for which Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility.

While the extent of damage and injuries caused is still being assessed, the UN chief, in a statement issued by his spokesperson in New York, urged all actors to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further incidents that could “bring greater escalation and destabilization instability in the region.”
