UN arms monitors conduct first aerial inspections in Iraq
According to a spokesman for the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), an UNMOVIC biological team performed the aerial inspections of Fulluja II and III, the Agricultural and Biological Research Centre, Tuwaitha and former biological research centres in Salman Park.
In Baghdad meanwhile, UN spokesman Hiro Ueki said an UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the commercial headquarters of the Agricultural Supply Company.
An UNMOVIC missile team visited the 7 Nissan Factory. "The factory produces a wide range of shell bodies and fuses for rockets, Mr. Ueki said. Among other things, the team obtained clarifications on the present status of Al Fatah research and development activities.
West of Baghdad an UNMOVIC multidisciplinary team inspected the Abu Gharib Ammunition Factory. "Although only a limited number of personnel were at the site, the inspections proceeded smoothly," Mr. Ueki said. The survey included the production areas, quality control, computer system and several warehouses.
