High-level meeting on Abkhazia, Georgia, set for next week, UN says

As a result of the mediation of the United Nations senior official on Georgia, a face-to-face meeting between the Georgian State Minister and the de facto Abkhaz Prime Minister is expected to take place next week, the UN mission announced today.

The head of the UN Observer Mission (UNOMIG), Dieter Boden, will accompany Georgian State Minister, A. Dzhorbenadze, on Monday when he travels to Abkhazia, Georgia.

In Sukhumi, they will meet with de facto Abkhaz Prime Minister, A. Dzherjenia, at a Coordination Council meeting that UNOMIG hopes will revive the peace process.
