The United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) is sending a team of experts to help the Government of Gabon fight an outbreak of Ebola after 11 people died of the deadly virus, a UN spokesman in New York said today.

A five-member WHO team left Geneva today and will arrive in Gabon tomorrow, the spokesman said.

WHO had also been informed of a suspected outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but lab test confirmed that the outbreak was not Ebola, according to the spokesman.
