UN Secretary-General to meet with Russian President on trip to Moscow

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will meet with top Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, as part of a visit to Moscow next month, a UN spokesman announced today.

During the trip, which is scheduled for 15 to 17 May, Mr. Annan will also meet with Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, and visit the State Duma -- the Russian Federation's Parliament, the spokesman said.

The Secretary-General will be arriving in Moscow from Brussels, where, on 14 May, he will be addressing the Third UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDCs), which will review international measures to address the plight of the world's 49 poorest countries.
