Allegations of so-called “executions” by Syrian state actors have been published by a top UN rights panel.

Citing alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity by government forces, the UN commission of inquiry report, released Monday, also said that opposition groups were also responsible for “the rampant use of torture and inhuman conditions of detention”.

Tens of thousands of people and soldiers are believed to have been held at any one time, the report’s authors’ said, after conducting hundreds of witness interviews.

To date, some 250,000 people are believed to have been killed in the conflict which began in 2011.
