UN tour guides are enjoying a stylish new look this month, care of New York-based fashion designer, Elie Tahari.

The Iranian-Israeli emigrated to the United States in the early 1970s, and at a launch event at UN Headquarters in New York in September, he said he wanted the tailored dark blue suits to be elegant, but also practical.

He is the latest in a distinguished line of fashion houses to donate their expertise to tour guide uniform design over the years, including Christian Dior, and Benetton.

Fatima Mendez went along to see the unveiling of the new uniforms and her report begins with Eli Tahari recalling how he first came across UN Headquarters.
