Water scarcity is a huge challenge for humanitarian workers in Arua district in northern Uganda whose job is to welcome refugees from South Sudan.

That’s according to a field officer with the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, U Aye Maung, who is based at the Imvepi camp.

The number of refugees in Uganda has more than doubled over the past year, from 500,000 to 1.2 million, making it the fastest-growing refugee emergency in the world.

Mr Maung spoke to Jocelyne Sambira about the challenges his team is facing in supporting the wave of refugees pouring in from South Sudan.
