A resurgent cholera outbreak in war-torn Yemen has spread with “unprecedented” speed and taken medical professionals by surprise, the UN said on Friday.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 240 people have died from cholera in just the last three weeks, out of a total of 23,400 infections.

WHO estimates that 7.6 million people live in areas at high risk of cholera transmission.
