Depression affects more than 300 million people worldwide and particularly those in poorer countries, UN health experts say.

In an attempt to help sufferers lead normal lives, the World Health Organization is encouraging them to tell others that they need help, ahead of World Health Day on 7 April.

Capucine de Fouchier, is a clinical psychologist, with WHO’s Mental Health and Substance Abuse department.

She told Daniel Johnson that it's also in the interest of governments to invest in the problem.
