The UN has not received the right support from its Member States and the Security Council over the last year to adequately fulfil its role in creating peace across the world.

That’s the assessment of Mogens Lykketoft who steps down on Tuesday as the 70th President of the UN General Assembly.

Conflicts in Syria, Yemen and South Sudan and the humanitarian crises created in their wake have dominated the work of the UN during the last 12 months.

Joshua Mmali asked Mr Lykketoft if the public perception that the UN is not doing enough to halt crises around the world was fair.
