New guidelines on the management of health complications from Female Genital Mutilation or FGM have been released by the World Health Organization (WHO).

FGM is the partial or total removal of external genitalia or other injury to female genital organs for non-medical reasons.

Globally, there are 200 million women and girls living with FGM, according to the agency.
