Not listening “can harm you”: vital role for radio in South Sudan

You can do yourself harm in South Sudan, if you fail to tune in to local radio.

That’s just one of the views in honour of World Radio Day, February 13, captured by our colleagues at Radio Miraya, based in Juba, the capital of the world’s newest nation.

Radio Miraya is the voice of the UN Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS, launched in 2005.

As the country enters its third year of a bloody civil war that has left thousands dead and displaced more than 2.4 million people, the network has been an important source of information and advice, as reporter David Lukan, has been finding out.
