The humanitarian situation for people living in war-torn Yemen has reached catastrophic proportions, according to the United Nations.

Four out of five Yemenis, that’s 21 million people, need assistance as a result of an ongoing conflict between government forces and rebels.

On Thursday, the Security Council was to be briefed on the current state of affairs in the Gulf state.

Reem Abaza has been talking to the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Johannes van der Klaauw.
