Reducing poverty in Indonesia by helping up to 80 million people who live on under US$2 a day remains the key challenge for Indonesian authorities, a UN aid expert said last week.

Although the Asian country is seeing massive economic prosperity, “pockets of poverty” remain hard to reach.

But tackling poverty is just one of the many problems Indonesia faces, according to Douglas Broderick, veteran UN Resident Coordinator in the country. He’s been speaking to Daniel Johnson about the other development challenges Indonesia faces.
