An estimated US$267 billion dollars a year is needed to eradicate world hunger by 2030 according to a report released by the UN’s Rome-based food agencies.

The UN estimates that despite progress, 800 million people around the world, most of them in rural areas, still do not have enough food to eat.

Launched ahead of a major financing for development conference being held in Ethiopia next week, the report recommends investments in rural and urban areas as well as social protection measures.

Sandra Ferrari asked Lorenzo Bellu a senior economist with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) how the money breaks down.
