Moving towards “normalization” in Haiti

Haiti is undergoing a transition, moving away from a culture of constant emergencies towards a more normalized situation, as described by the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the country.
Mourab Wahba says these changes impact the nature of humanitarian work in the Caribbean nation.
Last March, the Haitian Government and the UN launched what is known as the “Haiti Transitional Appeal” to support more resilience-building action through 2016.
Stephanie Coutrix met with Mr Wahba in Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, and began by asking him to describe how humanitarian activities have been evolving.
