As much of Europe continues to swelter amid record temperatures, UN weather experts insisted on Friday that there’s no reason to expect a repeat of recent deadly heatwaves on the continent.

Tens of thousands of people died in previous heatwaves in Europe in 2003 and 2010, but the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) says that many countries are now much better prepared to deal with such extreme weather events.

The agency’s experts say it’s too early to confirm whether the current heatwave is due to climate change.
