One third of global population online

Around one third of the world’s population, or 3.2 billion people, has access to the Internet according to the UN’s International Telecommunication Union, (ITU).
Figures released by the ITU also show that globally mobile telephone subscriptions have increased to over seven billion.
The international community is currently meeting in Geneva to discuss the progress made in the telecommunications or ICT sector.
Peter Forster asked Houlin Zhao, the Secretary-General of the ITU to elaborate on the figures.
