An aid convoy has crossed into western Libya from Tunisia to provide relief supplies to 51,000 people displaced by conflict.

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) said it was supporting the displaced Libyans as they do not have sufficient access to food.

Violence and insecurity in the North African country is continuing and has led to massive population displacements and an increase in humanitarian needs.

It’s hoped that a total of 243,000 internally displaced people in Libya will be reached over the next six months.

Cristina Silveiro asked WFP’s Elizabeth Byrs for an update.
