The movement for gender equality was originally conceived as a struggle led only by women and for women, but this has changed according to the UN agency for gender equality, UN Women.

New initiatives, such as the HeForShe and 10x10x10 campaigns, are calling on male leaders to participate in eradicating gender inequalities in the private, public and government sectors.

The brain behind the HeforShe campaign, Elisabeth Nyamayaro, has already signed up five universities, CEO’s and Heads of State to push for change.
