There has been a decrease in the number of Syrian refugees entering Lebanon, according to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Lebanon, which already hosts approximately 1.17 million displaced Syrians, has shouldered a heavy burden of the refugees who now comprise one quarter of the population.

UNHCR has called on the international community to increase investment in Lebanese infrastructure such as health care and schooling to help the country cope.

To find out more about this, Mamadou Alpha Diallo spoke with UNHCR’s spokesperson Dana Sleiman on the line from the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
