The conflict in Syria has reached a tipping point, threatening the entire region, according to the latest report by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria (COI).

With warring parties in unrelenting pursuit of a military victory, the report says, violence has escalated to an unprecedented level.

The Commissioners are urging the international community, and specifically the Security Council, to demand accountability for crimes committed daily against the Syrian people.

According to Mr Paulo Sérgio Pinheiro, Chair of the UN-mandated probe, there is “full-fledged impunity” in the country.

Ahead of his briefing to the Council, Mr Pinheiro shared with Jocelyne Sambira the latest developments on the ground.
