Women and children bear brunt of conflict in Afghanistan: UN report

The ongoing conflict between government and anti-government forces in Afghanistan claimed close to 3,000 lives in 2013 according to a new report.

The 2013 Annual Report on Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict issued by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), says the number of civilians killed or injured in the country increased by 14 per cent.
