Two hundred and sixty Nepalese troops have arrived in Juba in South Sudan to join the United Nations peacekeeping mission, UNMISS.

The Nepalese force, which follows an advance party of 25 soldiers from Nepal which arrived in January, will be deployed at UN sites for the protection of IDPs, people displaced by the ongoing conflict.

An increase of 5,500 peacekeepers was mandated by the UN Security Council following an upsurge in fighting in South Sudan.

Regina Gorle witnessed the arrival of the peacekeepers in Juba, the South Sudanese capital.
