The urgency of stopping the ongoing violence in Syria was once again underlined by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay on Monday.

Speaking in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Ms. Pillay said the civilian population continues to suffer in Syria.

She noted that more than 100,000 people have died in the ongoing conflict and the number of refugees reached two million last week.

In addition, four million people are displaced inside Syria, the UN human rights said.
