UN envoy confident ahead of Sierra Leone elections

The people of Sierra Leone head to the polls on Saturday in their third elections since the end of 11 years of civil war in 2002.

That’s another sign that the country is moving from the post-conflict state to the path of development, says Jens Anders Toyberg-Frandzen, Executive Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Sierra Leone.

The UN has been supporting the process by working with various sectors in society to make sure all parties are committed to holding free, fair and non-violent elections.

Eri Kaneko asked Mr. Toyberg-Frandzen what message the UN has for Sierra Leoneans. He said it is simple: Come out and vote.
