The human rights situation in Syria has deteriorated and gross violations of human rights have increased.

That’s what Paulo Pinheiro, Chairperson of the Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic told the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday.

Mr. Pinheiro said that the frequency with which human rights violations occur in the country outstrips the Commission’s ability to investigate them.
