This week, the United Nations has been marking “World Refuge Day”, which is observed 20 June.

In honour of the day, an event was held at UN headquarters in New York sponsored by the UN refugee agency, UNHCR.

Highlighted at the event were two sisters who were once refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sandra Uwiringiy'imana and Princesse Nabintu are now making new lives for themselves in America.

The pair are making a documentary and also founded the “Foundation of Hope” organization for refugees.

They told Julie Walker their story at the event.
