The United Nations is taking steps to make sure its blue helmets are going green.

With roughly 120,000 peacekeepers deployed to the UN’s 16 peacekeeping operations, the missions are investigating ways to minimize their impact on the natural environment in the countries where they work.

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) recently released a report called ‘Greening the Blue Helmets.’

It analyzes how the peacekeeping operations are faring.
