ILO chief praises young people’s refusal to accept a bleak future

The youth unemployment crisis is among the items topping the agenda of the International Labour Conference which opened in Geneva on Wednesday.

The conference is held annually by the International Labour Organization (ILO), which says the unemployment rate for young people is three times that of adults.

ILO chief Juan Somavia applauded young people who are fighting against a future that appears to hold only marginal opportunities for work and affordable quality education.
