A verdict is expected in the war crimes trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor on Thursday April 26.

The proceedings, which lasted five years, were held by the Special Court for Sierra Leone in The Hague.

Mr. Taylor is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by rebels he allegedly controlled during Sierra Leone’s 1991-2002 civil war.

It is estimated that 50,000 people were killed and thousands had their limbs cut off by rebel fighters.

Julie Walker spoke with Peter Andersen the spokesman for the Special Court for Sierra Leone about what the day will be like for Mr. Taylor.
