On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the United Nations has voiced its hope for peace.

“May this special occasion bring all Iraqis one step closer to achieving peace, reconciliation and further progress towards stability and democracy,” said Staffan de Mistura, the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq, extending his wishes to the country's people and Government for a peaceful and festive season.

He also reaffirmed the UN's commitment to assist Iraq as it addresses its challenges and moves towards its future.

Wishing them “Eid Adha Mubarek,” the UN peacekeeping mission in Sudan (UNMIS) congratulated the people and Government of Sudan.

“The celebration of the feast sacrifice is a symbol of solidarity and a peaceful coexistence toward which we are all committed,” UNMIS said in a press release.
