Reacting with anger to Egypt bombings, Annan once again condemns all terror attacks

Reacting with “sorrow and anger” to the news of the multiple car bombings in Egypt's Sinai peninsula, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today restated his condemnation of all terror attacks in a month marred by repeated use of the tactic.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Mr. Annan noted that the series of blasts “have cruelly struck the brave Egyptian nation on its National Day.”

The Secretary-General stressed that there is no acceptable rationale for random attacks against the innocent. “Once again, in this tragic month, he condemns the use of terror and indiscriminate violence against civilians, which no cause or belief can possibly justify,” his spokesman said.

Through the statement, Mr. Annan conveyed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and to the people and government of Egypt, as well as all other countries whose citizens have been killed or injured.
