Deputy Secretary-General ends two days of meetings on integrity, UN reform

Louise Fréchette
United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Louise Fréchette has ended two days of meetings with UN department representatives around the world on the institutional reform measures that Secretary-General Kofi Annan recently proposed and on the findings of the internal integrity survey conducted last year.

"This is the first time that a major policy decision has gone through this kind of process of informal staff consultation. It does not replace the formal consultative process with the official UN staff bodies," a UN spokesman said at the daily press briefing in New York.

The "United Nations Organizational Integrity Survey" was conducted by Deloitte Consulting.

Ms. Fréchette also received feedback about the draft policy on whistleblower protection that was communicated internally three weeks ago, Stephane Dujarric said.
