Blast strikes another vehicle carrying electoral workers, UN mission in Afghanistan says

A vehicle carrying four electoral workers in the northeastern part of Afghanistan has been hit by an explosive device, the second such attack in less than a week, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said today.

The four Afghan workers were driving towards Assadabad, in Kunar Province, UNAMA said. They all suffered injuries, with the most serious received by the driver and a civic education officer. Both sustained head injuries and lower back trauma and were admitted to Jalalabad Hospital, where they have been treated and are reported to be out of danger.

The vehicle was totally wrecked.

On Saturday four other Afghan workers and their driver sustained minor injuries when their vehicle exploded in an unexplained blast near Jalalabad. A UNAMA spokesman said it was unclear whether they were deliberately attacked or if it had been just a landmine.
