Senior UN official appointed Annan’s special envoy for West Africa
Secretary-General Kofi Annan today announced the appointment of a senior United Nations official as his Special Representative for West Africa.
Ibrahima Fall, who since 1997 has served as Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, will also head the new UN Office for West Africa, based in Dakar, Senegal.
Mr. Fall previously served from 1992 to 1997 as Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights and Director of the Centre for Human Rights in Geneva. He was also a former Government Minister in his native Senegal.
