UN agency shelters group of Palestinian refugees in wake of Israeli military action

The United Nations agency aiding the Palestinian refugees said today it was providing shelter and humanitarian supplies to several hundred people affected by the destruction of 35 refugee shelters in Khan Younis camp during an Israeli military operation on Thursday night.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, or UNRWA, had distributed tents, food parcels, mattresses, mats, kitchen kits and cash to the 57 families affected, comprising a total of 345 people.

The Agency said that during the incursion into the Khan Younis Camp, a group of 40 people, most of them women and children from six families, stayed at the UNRWA Khan Younis Health Centre for protection and left the premises on Friday morning.
