United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash are to meet at the end of this month, a UN spokesman announced today.
"There have been questions in the last few days about the Secretary-General's good offices on Cyprus and efforts to get the process back on track," spokesman Fred Eckhard told reporters at UN Headquarters in New York. "I wish to announce in this regard that the Secretary-General will be meeting H.E. Mr. Rauf Denktash on 28 August in Salzburg."
Shortly after that meeting, Mr. Annan's Special Advisor, Alvaro de Soto, plans to go to Cyprus "for consultations with H.E. Mr. Glafcos Clerides and H.E. Mr. Rauf Denktash," the spokesman said.
