Rescue mission turns to recovery after deadly Sierra Leone mudslide

With hundreds reported to have died following mudslides and extensive flooding around the capital of Sierra Leone, UN agencies are joining in with the rescue and recovery effort.

Access to water, food and medical treatment, together with widespread homelessness are expected to be immediate concerns for thousands around the capital Freetown, which has a population of more than one million.

Assumpta Massoi got through to Linnea Van Wagenen, Special Assistant to the UN Resident Representative in Sierra Leone, and asked her for the latest information on casualties.
