Discrimination in health care settings is forcing people with HIV and AIDS to “go underground,” causing them to miss out on the essential medical services they need.

That’s according to the Joint United Nations programme on HIV and AIDS, UNAIDS which says data from 50 countries shows that one in eight people with HIV reports being denied health care.

UNAIDS is calling on people everywhere to show their support for a fair and just society this Wednesday, Zero Discrimination Day.

The agency’s Executive Director, Michel Sidibé, tells Dianne Penn why we all should “make some noise” for #zerodiscrimination.
