American singer Michael Bolton has conquered audiences worldwide with his powerful ballads and heartfelt love songs.

The man with the soulful sound is now using his voice to support the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in its work to end harmful practices against women and girls, such as Female Genital Mutilation and child marriage.

Dianne Penn spoke to the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter ahead of his performance at an event in the UN General Assembly Hall on Wednesday evening.
